Larry German (Excels) (1958)
I met Tom Pence, while in the seventh grade. He was cool, smart and one year
my senior. Hence, I took a few social lessons from him, but was never as smart
or as cool. He had a chipped front tooth and a sly smile.
As a South Ogden kid, he worked the OCC as a caddy and became a proficient golfer.
As I recall, he played Varsity for Weber High.
Tom was one of the big reasons I joined Excels ... even though he left, as a Sophmore,
to be part of the University of Utah NROTC program. As said, he was smart.
Years past, as he pursued a career in the Navy, andour paths didn't cross. I have often wondered about his early passing. If someone could put me in touch with one of his family members, it would be appreciated.
